João Malés is a Master in Aerospace Engineering who graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico and is currently a researcher at CA3 - Computational Intelligence Research Group of UNINOVA.

There, he presently participates in a research project aimed at optimizing and simplifying a project previously made in CA3 and that was responsible for implementing new techniques regarding autonomous decision making while selecting safe landing sites during interplanetary landings, IPSIS (Intelligent Planetary Site Selection).
