ARIBOS (ARtificial Intelligence for BOne functioning Simulation)
Project Summary

The main aim of this research is to develop a simulation model of bone functioning at a micro-scale using an artificial intelligence (AI) approach.

The simulations will try to mimic various aspects of bone remodelling, under different conditions. The agents (variables) may represent the action of a single cell (osteocyte or other) as well as of variable volumes of bone tissue.

The final goal is to reproduce processes, identified as the most important for bone remodelling, in normal and impaired conditions, such as osteoporosis.

Our challenge is to further knowledge about the "language of bones", namely, what are the (electrochemical) equivalents of the commands "formation" or "resorption" in the bone remodelling processes.
